Elvis is Alive Museum

Bill Beeny believes. You may, too, after a visit to the Elvis is Alive Museum in Wright City, Missouri.

According to Beeny, Elvis is not dead -- he has simply stopped performing. His museum is a tribute to the continued longevity of the King. The Tomb Room features a replica of Elvis's tombstone as well as pictures of Elvis "sightings" and testimonies from friends and relatives. The Tape Room is also a "must see." Visitors can listen to recordings of phone conversations in which the King discusses things that happened "after" his death. The FBI/DEA room is another essential part of the living-Elvis experience. It is here that visitors can review a massive FBI document on Elvis and "written evidence" linking the most famous man on earth to the FBI, the DEA, and the Witness Protection Program.

It is Beeny's belief that Elvis "disappeared" to save himself and his family. If you find yourself humming "Hound Dog" itchy with curiosity, be sure to stop by the museum on a Saturday or Sunday, as the Elvis is Alive Museum is open only on the weekends. 45 minutes west of St. Louis, just off I-70 at the Wright City exit, follow service road north 1/8 mile, look for giant Elvis sign on the right -- can't miss it!, tel. 636/745-2349, 636/745-3107. Free. Saturday and Sunday 10-6.
