Combat Cockroach Hall of Fame

Members of the Chamber of Commerce of Plano, Texas, were originally opposed to the attention focused on the town's most unusual museum, but Michael Bohdan, founder of the Combat Cockroach Hall of Fame, is pleased to announce that they've come around.

It's a good thing, too, as there is an unquestionable need for people to experience Roach Art. A ten-mile drive north of Dallas will lead you to the likes of Roach Perot, standing on a pile of money; Marilyn Monroach, decked out with blonde hair, white dress, and spiked heels; and the infamous Liberoache.

Bohdan acquired his roach experience from years as an exterminator and is quick to defend his stereotyped crawlies: "Cockroaches are actually very clean, because they're always grooming themselves." He adds, "Cockroaches have been around for 350,000 years. Maybe we can learn something from them." 2231-B West Fifteenth St., Plano, TX 75075, tel. 972/519-0355. Free. Weekdays 12:30-5:30, Saturday 11-3.
